Starting at noon Pacific Time on Saturday photographers across the world set out to capture the world as they experience it.  I'm madly prepping my submission, due at 5pm today!

Join us for a Seattle celebration of Long Shot participants and their images. Enjoy music, drinks and amazing artwork. The evening centers around a reverse auction, in which everyone has the opportunity to bid and take home images by local luminaries and up-and-coming photographers. Donate to PCNW that evening and go home with a unique Long Shot photograph! All are welcome to attend, whether you participated in Long Shot or not, on Saturday, June 25 from 5-9pm at PCNW.

We rely on the support of our community for 30-40% of our budget in order to keep tuition and facilities access affordable, and our exhibitions free. Happy new year!  After a long break to refresh and recharge my re-entry to the Seattle arts scene is long overdue!  I'm pleased to announce that for the last 6 months I've been singing with the Seattle Ladies Choir!!  They're a phenomenal group of women dedicated to community and strengthening each-other.  I'm honored to be an Alto 2, and was floored to be nominated let alone elected to section leader.  The hard work of the section and the group as a whole is intoxicating.  I'm hoping you can come out for my first music performance in over five years!

If you haven't had a chance to visit this exhibit head to BAM now!  Sunday is the last day to experience this journey through Ms. Warashina's extraordinary career.  My favorite was "Glass Cage" a vitrine of female figures climbing in an effort to escape the (plexi)Glass Cage.  The woman who had reached the highest was armed with a fork and the standard museum plexiglass enclosure for a fine work of art was left cracked for her efforts.

Another year's passed, and it's time again for Longshot!  This event is about spending a day with your camera and taking time to appreciate how photography connects us all, while supporting Photo Center NW.  Starting at 6pm Friday, photographers will start shooting anything that strikes their fancy straight(ish) through to 6pm Saturday 6/22.

Consider kicking them a dollar or two in support of me and the local arts community.  By contributing to the Photo Center, you’re helping to sustain artist resources including rental darkrooms, digital labs and studios. Your gift supports innovative education programs in the photographic arts for students of all levels, as well as scholarship programs that provide essential support for young or emerging artists.

Or just show your beautiful face at the exhibit on July 27!

In this series I explore the memory of places I’ve been, and how those memories have shifted and faded. I've always been intrigued by how humans occupy and interact with space. These images are a representation of my favorite places – near and far. Each one is perfect representation of my experience in that moment, though not at all an exact representation of the landscape.  What's your favorite place?

Please join me at Nature Consortium June 13, sometime between 6 & 9 to chat about travel, memory, and maybe have a glass of wine.

Leetal Rivlin's creation:  Sand Bowls.  Such a simple thing captures your imagination.  It makes me think of playing on the dunes as a child, or the impossible amount of sand I tracked back to my room each night during my trip to the Caribbean.  The movement captured in stillness, also makes me think of being on "island time."

Many thanks to Susan Melrath for sharing with me Austin Kleon's Steal Like an Artist.  I've barely cracked the spine and I'm finding inspiration!

The Secret: Do good work and share it with people.  pg 74

It's really as easy as that.

Join us for an exhibit opening on 8/20 from 6:30-9:00 at the Seattle Central Community College Gallery.

August's art walk will have the added excitement of being paired with ArtRageous.  Stop by just to take a peek, or to have a chat about my work and travels.  Stroll through downtown to see art and meet some local artists paired with downtown businesses, the ArtRageous beer garden, or music stages.  Artist and business pairings and a venue map will be available in late July.

Visit me at Quality Rentals, 252 E Main Street, Auburn, WA
This exhibit will highlight the work produced during my visit with La Malagua Artist Collective in Puerto Vallarta, Mexico, and the resulting body of work created in response to my trip.  Click here for a sneak peek.  Click here for more info on the Auburn Art Walk.
